In an interview with RFA, Thai army Col. Nattakorn Reuntib, said he stressed the agreement of “all parties” to make Myawaddy safe zone and a hub for necessities transportation for civilians after fighting drove residents into Thailand this past week.
He said that fleeing Myanmar troops may have to wait for their commander to decide what to next but he hopes there would not be fighting in populated areas.
