Chanthaburi (Thai: จันทบุรี, pronounced [tɕān.tʰá(ʔ).bū.rīː]) is a town (thesaban mueang) in the east of Thailand, on the banks of the Chanthaburi River. It is the capital of the Chanthaburi Province and the Mueang Chanthaburi District.
We loved our stay here:

The town covers the two tambons Talat and Wat Mai of Mueang Chanthaburi District. As of 2005, the town had a population of 27,602. The town figures in the legacy of King Taksin. In 1981 the Thai cabinet passed a resolution to bestow on him the honorary title of the Great. When the Bank of Thailand issued the 12th Series of banknotes, called The Great Series, the monument of King Taksin the Great in the town’s Tungnachaey recreational park appeared on the back of the 20 baht note issued 28 December 1981, the 214th anniversary of his coronation.

Chanthaburi has a tropical monsoon climate (Köppen climate classification Am), with little variation in temperature throughout the year. Rainfall, however, varies dramatically by season. Rainfall is light and infrequent in the short dry season (December to February), but the wet season (April to October) features torrential rain. March and November are transitional months, during which significant rainfall may occur in some years, while in other years little rain falls.
I am Scott Thomas South, a disabled American Army veteran from Kansas City, KS, who embarked on a life-changing journey to Thailand in October 2015 for health reasons. Since then, I have immersed myself in the vibrant culture of Thailand, finding purpose and connection.

Living in Thailand:
Choosing Thailand for its tropical climate, Scott Thomas South has been a full-time resident since 2015, only returning to the States for occasional vacations. Married to a Thai lady, he navigates life with a Non-O Family visa, making Thailand his home away from home.

Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL):
In 2016, Scott Thomas South was approached to teach ESL conversational classes for high school students. Initially, not seeking employment, he embraced the opportunity after six months of retirement. His unique approach, similar to a speech and drama class, focuses on students using English as a second language, fostering effective communication skills.

Expanding his impact, Scott Thomas South teaches ESL at the Royal Thai Military Academy (CRMA) in Nakhon Nayok. Passionate about educating Army Cadets, he has formed strong bonds with the Royal Thai Army. Many of his students have graduated to become officers, even serving in the Special Forces, using their English skills to bridge cultures during international collaborations.

Expat Life in Ban Chang:
Relocating to Ban Chang in 2019, Scott Thomas South found a community of expats on the Eastern Seaboard. This move was inspired by a love for the area, where he continues to enjoy the benefits of expat life.

Community Engagement:
In 2021, Scott Thomas South joined the American Legion Post TH02 in Pattaya, and in 2023, he became a member of the VFW Post 12146 in Ban Chang and then in 2024 he became a member of the RBL, Royal British Legion Thailand Branch. Actively participating in the community, he has created a YouTube playlist featuring American veteran-related videos, providing a platform to share experiences and insights.

YouTube Channel and Global Impact:
Fueling his passion for sharing the Thai experience, Scott Thomas South created a YouTube channel, documenting his life as an expat. Initially intended for family back in the States, the channel has organically grown, reaching audiences from all corners of the globe. TTT expresses gratitude to viewers, acknowledging their support and encouraging continued engagement.

Conclusion:
For Scott Thomas South, expat life in Thailand is not just a personal journey but a means of fostering connections, making a positive impact through education, and sharing the richness of Thai culture with a global audience. As TTT always says, “Thanks for watching, and we appreciate your support of the channel. Peace and love to everyone!
