Fears Bangkok could be underwater within decades if sea levels continue to rise | ABC News

With its vast network of canals, Bangkok has been called the ‘Venice of the East’, and just like Venice, Bangkok is sinking. Studies have shown the Thai capital is sinking by one to two centimetres every year. And as climate change brings rising sea levels and more intense monsoon seasons, it’s feared the city could be underwater in decades if nothing’s done.
